About Me

Mauricio Soria

Mauricio Soria was born in Mexico City in 1969. From a very young age, he expressed great concern for developing his artistic abilities, however, it was not possible until his maturity. His work contemplates a reality transformed into perfectly balanced lines and curves that reveal alternating ideas of extraordinary beauty, thus, what appears to be a female figure, could well be perceived as a pair of birds. The creativity that manifested at some point in his youth, was developed more fully in the field of the plastic arts from 2013, when he entered the Academy of Maestro Gustavo Salmones. His work takes strength through the different materials and colors with which he works, which gives him a unique and personal stamp. The detailed finish reflects the perfection and care in each piece. It uses techniques such as resin, metals and clays. The creation of each work is a moment that transforms with the personality of the artist. The compositions of two and three pieces to give definition to a design are features that stand out and reinforce the idea of "balance with smooth movement". From the experiences lived in the trips made throughout these years, there arises in him the need to manifest the sensations of his surroundings, perceiving through his senses silhouettes that, although they already exist, when passing through his hands they acquire alternate forms of unparalleled perfection. Much of his creations are resins with automotive paint, which define part of the style of his "balanced works with smooth movement". However, he also shows interest in developing works with materials such as bronze, steel, wood and clays. The works that combine materials, textures and colors are part of the style "without limits", which stand out in their work. Painting is an interesting area that has developed, however, the satisfaction and emotion that the sculpture has generated, is not yet overcome by the brushes. The traces that are perceived in the paintings, combining colors and textures transform the paintings into familiar and common but ambiguous environments, which transmits subtle and daily sensations. In 2014 and 2015 he participated in the Arte Vivo event organized by the Mexico Vivo Foundation, at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. In addition to participating in the contest of the Foundation of CURSOL-Culture of Resources and Solidarity of the Community.
